International seminar
EMERGING ARCHITECTURE & URBANISM 1 : (New) Contextualism

In this unprecedented urban era, cities are becoming more extreme, complex and demanding. Cities are also in crisis, as global warming threatens the ecological sustainability of our city and densely populated city demands more social space and urban amenities.  We are also witnessing the flood of new construction of contemporary architecture and large scale development projects being constructed with no regards to the urban issues and the new context.

Every day we are witnessing the mutation of new context, beyond the classical debate of architectural identity. The new context requires architecture and urban design to sensitively respond to ecological issue and social meaning, complex urbanity or newly mutated global-local culture.

This international seminar will bring together several architects and urban designers to present their recent regional and global works in responding to the new challenging context. Their works will present the debate of new emerging trends in architecture and urban design.
